Welcome to Monday Memes, where we take a look at all of the best and worst memes that the internet had to offer in the past week. This week: Illusion. Delusion. Conclusion? Confusion.
Good morning! It is Monday, and I am here with the good shit. Shall we begin?
Meme grade: Susan.Swift for ConservativeFiringLine.com … thank u
A comparison to Hillary in a conservative meme is a good indicator that you have not had a great week, and indeed our dear Donnie has not. The New York Times found the emails that set up a meeting between Donald Trump, Jr. and an intermediary promising dirt on Hillary as “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” Yes, that’s a quote from the emails!

Meme grade: Barely a meme, but definitely good.
With the Times on the verge of publishing this, Junior took to Twitter and posted the emails himself. That didn’t help Mini-Don much, because the substance of the emails is still insanely damning. It did, however, ruin a reporter’s entire year.
I…worked on this story for a year…and…he just…he tweeted it out.

But there’s a silver lining in every cloud, and from the ashes of Sexton’s Pulitzer rose my favorite meme trend of the week:

While Twitter was busy meme-ing, Trump supporters were scrambling to explain how Donald Trump, Jr. attending a meeting to accept campaign help from the Russian government did not prove that the Russian government helped the campaign. Kellyanne Conway took the opportunity to hold up two signs, which is never a good idea.
*sigh* Alright, let’s see ’em.

Meme grade: Okay. It’s fine, I guess.

Let’s get the inevitable crossover we all crave.

But not as good as this one!

Meme grade: This is how you rise above a lazy meme format. Innovative. Bold. ELITE. This is work that reminds us to be a little better every day. Ignore the crowd. Choose to be your best self.
Yes, it was a great week for Twitter’s blue-checkmarked army of neoliberal journos and socialist professional memers. Not so much, however, in Trumpland. These are dark days in the vast pro-Trump network that FW:FW:RE:FW’s its way through dingy basement bedrooms like an underground railroad for racist emails. And when the going gets tough on conservative Facebook, 4chan’s /pol/, and Reddit’s r/The_Donald, that can only mean one thing: memes about Hillary Clinton killing people.
Meme grade: How can we fairly evaluate r/The_Donald’s Hillary memes? On the one hand, they’re woefully out of date and pathetically irrelevant, and those flaws should each be fatal to any meme trend. On the other hand, they’re kind of dank.
Meme grade: I’m not even sure who Hillary is supposed to have killed this time, to be honest.
It wasn’t a total loss on r/The_Donald this week, though, thanks to this totally-not-fake post from an artisan cheese maker turned culture warrior that the alt-righters found elsewhere on Reddit:
Very believable stuff. Cheese man, of course, became A Thing.
Meme grade: “Left Wing Cuck Squad” would be a pretty good name for a band. Anyway, this gets an F.
Another ray of sunshine for Donald’s basement army this week: Shia LaBeouf got drunk and said racist shit to a cop. You’ll recall that LaBeouf put together some anti-Trump art projects a while back that the alt-right internet hated, so it’s no surprise that the newly minted racist is getting extremely meme’d.
Meme grade: This is very much my shit and is also our MEME OF THE WEEK.
But with a few exceptions, it was a week for r/The_Donald to hunker down and wait out the storm. Like a sports network showing a classic game during a rain delay, r/The_Donald spent the week blowing the dust off their oldest paranoias and posting evergreen memes about hating Hillary Clinton and CNN.
Meme grade: Get a load of this idiot screen-shotting his own phone background. You must have the image saved on your phone, dumbass, that’s how you were able to make it your own background. F.
Here’s another one. ENHANCE!
Meme grade: If you zoom in closely on r/The_Donald, you can see that it fuckin’ sucks this week.
Alright, one more meme before we all get back to work. Did you see President Trump get all horny on French first lady Brigitte Macron? “You’re in such good shape,” the leader of the free world said on Friday. “She’s in such good physical shape. Beautiful.” This calls for the return of the Trump/Star Wars meme style we enjoyed way back in October, don’t you think?
Meme grade: Hahahahahahahahahaha God damn it every day is a fresh humilation
See you next week.
