Every Wednesday, we bring you the most important and amusing news stories of the past week. In this edition, John Kasich and George H.W. Bush remind you that they sure don’t like that Donald Trump guy.
- Republican nominee Donald Trump is suddenly not a birther anymore. In fact, he never was, and it was actually Clinton, and he just solved the issue, or something. Have you heard of his new hotel?
- John Kasich isn’t running for shit, but he’s still talking it.
- 29 people were injured in blasts in Manhattan and New Jersey this week. The terrorist responsible, an Afghanistan-born U.S. citizen, was apprehended after he fell asleep in a doorway.
- In another terror attack, a man stabbed 9 people in a Minnesota mall before being shot to death by an off-duty police officer. ISIS has claimed responsibility.
- Terror attacks by Muslim immigrants, ISIS attacks on U.S. soil, and heroic off-duty cops stopping violence with legal guns all seem like they’d help out Trump in the polls – but as FiveThirtyEight points out, there’s a bit more to it than that.
- President George H.W. Bush thinks Trump is such trash that he’s reportedly planning to vote for Clinton.
- After President Obama vetoed a bill that would allow 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia, a veto override looked like a done deal. But now some Democrats are wussing out, and the bill’s future is in doubt. A veto override is still very possible, though.
- Police shot and killed two black men this week: one in Tulsa, Oklahoma and one in Charlotte, North Carolina. Both incidents led to protests. In the case of the Tulsa shooting, video footage [warning: disturbing link] exists that appears to prove the incident unjustified.
- Reddit sleuths believe that they’ve caught Hillary Clinton’s IT guy asking the Reddit community for advice on illegally wiping identifying features from emails.
