Every Wednesday, we bring you the most important and amusing news stories of the past week. Today is day 69 of the Trump administration. Niiiice.
- Would you like to follow Indelegate on Facebook or Twitter? No? Well, I just thought I’d ask.
- After a terrorist attack in London, the president’s adult son went after the mayor of London on Twitter, because nothing matters anymore.
- The GOP pulled their healthcare plan before a vote on Friday. Later this week, Paul Ryan said they’d try again. It’s not a sure thing, however, that we’ll see another real effort on this front anytime soon.
- Via Politico, here’s an excellent postmortem on the failed healthcare reform bill.
- Here are this week’s memes.
- Devin Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee is having a rough week. Nunes said last week that Trump associates were “incidentally” spied on as part of foreign intelligence collection. Nunes won’t reveal his sources for that information – not even to his own committee – but admits he got the scoop while on White House grounds.
- Nunes also cancelled a hearing at which former acting attorney general Sally Yates was supposed to testify. Yates would have testified on Michael Flynn’s Russia ties.
- All of this has sparked calls for Nunes to recuse himself from the Russia investigation – which would be a remarkable step for the chair of what is normally a very bipartisan committee.
- The White House now claims they’re totally down with Yates testifying, for what it’s worth.
- Jared Kushner is taking on a new role in the White House.
- SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch may not avoid a filibuster.
- It’s cool, though, because Bernie Sanders says the Democrats won’t resort to a filibuster. He’s pretty much full of it, but hey, doesn’t he sound reasonable?
- Also, Gorsuch accidentally said “bigly” in his hearing this week. It was great.
- The House passed a bill that would undo major internet privacy rules set up under President Obama. If it passes the Senate, Trump will reportedly sign it.
- California’s Attorney General is going after two anti-abortion activists who illegally recorded conversations with Planned Parenthood reps.
- This article on Karen Pence is goddamn amazing.
